| THE CENTRE |
THE SETTING The Blue Butterfly is situated on the 153 hectare reserve of Welbedacht; a declared nature reserve under a long term stewardship agreement with Cape Nature. The reserve offers a diverse range of vegetation including natural fynbos, rhenosterveld and wetland. Within these wonderful, wild areas you will find an abundance of different plant species and a range of flowers for each season. The reserve has a large dam, several marked and maintained walking trails and along with the many different species of small game, there are also springbok, bontebok and zebra. |

THE FACILITIES The Centre itself is a beautifully restored barn. It is double story with a thatched roof and has the following facilities: The studio: The studio makes up most of the ground floor of the Centre and has polished wooden floors and plenty of cushions. The space is light and opens onto a large covered verandah. (view floor plan) The verandah: The verandah hosts deep, comfortable couches, long Oregon tables where 2o persons can be seated at mealtimes and beautiful valley views. The kitchen: Alongside the studio is the kitchen which opens onto a sheltered breakfast patio which has a pond and several quiet sitting spots. The kitchen is fully equipped and has settings for up to 20 persons. There is a central table for food preparation. The loft bedrooms: Upstairs you will find two big bedrooms. Each bedroom can sleep 4 persons in single beds and each bedroom also has its own bathroom. The bathrooms have a shower, basin and a toilet. Crisp linen and fresh towels are provided for this cosy and comfortable sleeping area (view floor plan). |

THE GARDENS Low stone walls surround the Centre and its gardens. There is a fire pit with an abundance of fire wood originating from our alien tree removal program and there is also an outdoor, hot water shower tucked away behind the trees. At the far end of the garden is a gate which leads directly into the reserve where you are welcome to walk the many trails, swim in the dams and explore! |
