The Blue Butterfly Retreat Centre and all accommodations are situated on Welbedacht, at the foot of the magnificent Winterhook Mountains. Welbedacht is a stewardship nature reserve comprising 153 hectares of natural fynbos, rhenosterveld and orchards. There is an an abundance of bird-life here, as well as small game and a huge variety of flora.

The reserve has two dams and plenty of walking trails, and is situated within the area of Tulbagh and the Tulbagh Wine Route, which offers a wide range of restaurants and activities - including chocolate tasting, mountain biking, horse-riding and more.

RETREAT CENTRE
The Retreat Centre is a beautifully restored barn, double story with a thatch roof. The ground floor has an expansive, wooden floored studio and living area. The studio opens onto a large covered patio and a huge enclosed garden area with mountain and valley views. Alongisde the studio are two guest bathrooms and a kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped and has settings for up 18 persons. It opens onto a sheltered patio which has a peaceful pond and beautiful views (view layout and more pictures).

The upstairs loft has two big bedrooms. Each bedroom can sleep 4 persons in single beds and each bedroom also has its own bathroom. Crisp linen, fresh towels and wooden floors make this a cosy and comfortable sleeping area (view layout and more pictures).

COTTAGES

There are four fully self catering cottages within walking distance of the Retreat Centre. Each cottage has a kitchen, fire place, fresh linen and towels, a mountain water splash pool and spectacular views. The cottages can be booked in conjunction with a retreat or workshop or seperately.

Orchard Cottage has two double bedrooms, both of which have en suite bathroom. There are two additional sleeper beds in the living area and this area is open plan with a big kitchen and plenty of comfortable chairs and a large fire place. Orchard Cottage can sleep 6 people comfortably.

Eagle Cottage has one double bedroom and an additional bedroom with two single bunk beds. The seperate bathroom has a big shower and fresh towels. The living area is open plan with a quaint little kithen, fire place and plenty of fire wood. Eagle Cottage can sleep 4 persons.

Both Pine and Stone Cottages have one double bedroom each. There is a bathroom, open plan living area and fire place with lots of fire wood. Pine and Stone Cottages can sleep 2 persons each.
